Prog. notes: Our memory contributes an important part in reality, which itself is also an essential element towards our own memory. In this piece, the roles of the tape part and the live percussionist are similar to the relationship between memory and reality: sometimes coexisting, sometimes in isolation, sometimes mutually interacting. Sound sources used for the tape are largely from sampled percussion instruments, including a cymbal, tom-tom, tam-tam, brake-drum, marimba, piano, harp, and glass bowls, and sounds generated from the Karplus-Strong Pluck-String algorithm. The tape part was realized in the Electro-Acoustic Music Centre (EMC) at HKBU, using Csound (MIT), RT (Princeton) and MAX (IRCAM) on SGI platform.
