There are some ways to compose the music for video image, depending on how to connect between the image and the music. The way I used for "Noemata No.2" was intently to amplify the characteristics and features of the image by the music.

In this work, Robert Darroll has showed the disorganized and chaotic situations in modern Japanese society, with using well-digital-processed materials like TV images and some textures. This is exactly contrary to what the West is likely to show romantic Japan - quaint temples and smiling geishas. The work is the very essay about his first impression to living in Tokyo for this media artist.

I also used the sounds from TVs and loudspeakers settled in the town by considering the points of similarity to the images. These sounds were digital-processed to adjust the images on screen and edited to harmonize with the changes of images along the time flow. These changes are based on the forms which two different parts appear one after another; Collage Part and CG-animated Part. I believe, therefore, that composing the music only for the purpose to amplify the characteristics and features of the image resulted in composing the well-balanced and well-constructed music.
