Prog. notes: Chang Xiang Shou is a real-time composition performed with the newly created instrument, the Shi Kong Ball – a re-purposed (hacked) Wii Remote Controller encased in a soft volleyball with associated interactive software. By capturing selected gesture data, sound is controlled and transformed in a multi-channel audio environment, a 3-D representation of the Jade carving homocentric sphere is rendered which symbolizes the circle of life and traveling through time, and Chinese Shadow Puppet and Jade carving sphere figures are controlled in real-time through the performance with the Shi Kong Ball.
