Prog. notes: FUMON is the common name for a series of pieces written for performers and the tape, which was produced at the Tokyo NHK Studio of Electronic Music in 1974. There are versions for chamber orchestra (I), large symphony orchestra (II), solo soprano (III), percussion quartet (IV), 6 instrumentalists (V); the latest version, FUMON VI, composed in 1997 is performed by three instrumentalists. The Tape includes transformed electronic sounds, natural sounds (wind, rain, etc), the sound of such instruments as bambon (new percussion instrument), shamisen and human voices. FUMON designates a relationship between human-being and nature.
