Prog. notes: This piece is based on a famous poem “Till Death Do Us Apart.” The poem first appeared in the end of Han Dynasty, which was the beginning of the third century. It was the first long narrative poem in Chinese literature history. The poem tells a tragic love story of a man and his wife. The Man named Jiao Zhongqing was newly married and the couple loved each other very much. However, the mother-in-law disliked the bride and she sent her back to her maiden home, an act was akin to be divorced. Being realized that there was no hope they could live together again, the couple committed suicide to honor their love to each other.
