Prog. notes: XuanNiao: A divine bird in Chinese ancient legend, which is similar to black swallow.)XuanNiao is originated from “God orders XuanNiao to give birth to Shang” which is the sentence of the Book of Songs. XuanNiao is the spiritual totem of the Chinese ancestors of the Shang Dynasty.
All the sound materials of this piece are from accordion and Zheng. The tremolo of accordion build the image element of the Xuan Niao, and the mental strength is rendered by Zheng. The piece attempts to describe the divine power, the yearning for a better life and the strong faith of XuanNiao through the traditional timbre and electronic timbre which is derived from instruments in every paragraphs.
