Prog. notes: In Korean Shin.woon means this particular movement of artistic objects (be it painting, writing or music) created by its resonance inside human beings. In this music, the « fixed sounds » express this movement created by to the play of clarinet.
Eastern Asia say that its oldest musical instrument, the bianzhong chime of bells, as producing the very sound of Nature. Although it is a human beings intervention that provokes the instrument to move by striking it, the sound itself is actually an answer back of Nature.
There is a chinese saying that says « yichang san tan », « one song produces three exclamations » that expresses an outstanding success. This also implies that one should not hold on to the first sight of things, but also look out for the flavour beyound the first flavour, at the innumerables other levels of beauty, which lay under the first and evident one.
To express the continuity between human beings and Nature, the composer, acting as a medium more than a creator, has to be in the position of a shaman, listening, receiving, letting the sound flew, in himself, sounds without beginning and without end, but immediatly organized by the very act of listening, a form born from the background and returning to it.
